Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay — 2024. Mindanao State University–Buug (MSU-Buug) has formally established the Institute for Policy and Innovation Leadership through Special Order No. 289-OC, Series of 2024. This strategic move underscores the University’s commitment to advancing policy development and fostering innovative practices that respond to pressing societal challenges.
The newly constituted institute will serve as a hub for research, leadership, and innovation, engaging both the academic community and external stakeholders in addressing governance, human rights, sustainability, and social development issues.
MSU Buug Constitutes Institute for Policy and Innovation Leadership
Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay — 2024. Mindanao State University–Buug (MSU-Buug) has formally established the Institute for Policy and Innovation Leadership through Special Order No. 289-OC, Series of 2024. This strategic move underscores the University’s commitment to advancing policy development and fostering innovative practices that respond to pressing societal challenges.
The newly constituted institute will serve as a hub for research, leadership, and innovation, engaging both the academic community and external stakeholders in addressing governance, human rights, sustainability, and social development issues.
The leadership structure of the Institute is composed of the following appointees:
- Asst. Prof. Mark Anthony A. Dalumpines – Assistant Director, Policy Center for Governance, Public Leadership and Management
- Dr. Bryan L. Bitantos – Assistant Director, Policy Center for Human Rights and Sustainable Development
- Asst. Prof. Mary Anne M. Polestina – Assistant Director, Social Lab Unit
According to the University, the creation of the Institute is a critical step in strengthening MSU-Buug’s role as a catalyst for evidence-based policy-making and socially relevant innovation. By leveraging expertise in governance, human rights, sustainability, and social innovation, the Institute aims to contribute to local and regional development in Western Mindanao.
“This initiative ensures that MSU-Buug remains responsive to the needs of the communities it serves, while also positioning itself as a thought leader in policy innovation and academic excellence,” the administration emphasized.
The Institute is expected to spearhead research collaborations, policy dialogues, training, and community-based programs that align with both national development goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
