Dormitory

Mindanao State University – Buug is committed to making education more inclusive and accessible. To support students coming from far-flung areas and low-income families, the Dormitory Housing Program is now open for all female college students. This initiative provides safe, affordable, and secure accommodation on campus, helping ease the financial challenges of student life while fostering a supportive learning environment. With this program, we ensure that no student is left behind in pursuing their dreams.

Application Process: 1. Secure the application form from OSAS. 2. Submit the form with complete requirements. 3. OSAS will screen all applicants. 4. OSAS will release the list of approved applicants. General Qualifications of Applicants

1. A bona fide MSU-B student with good moral character

2. With at least 18-unit academic load in the current semester

3. Does not have residence in Buug

4. Has maintain a CGPA of at least 2.5

5. The student/applicant should have no pre-diagnosed critical illness

6. Payment of rent

7. Deposit

Application

1. First come first serve basis. No reservation of slots.

2. OSA-The applicant must be screen by the Office of Students Affairs when officially enrolled

3. Finance-Those who pass the OSA interview will proceed to the finance for the payment.

4. Dorm Manager-After paying in the Finance office, the students will show the dorm manager the receipt and the recommendation from the Office of the Students Affair, make the necessary deposit and get the key to the designated room. The occupants will also process the DORM ID in the dorm manager’s office.

5. Use of dormitory for any purpose other than personal residence for officially enrolled students is not allowed. Subletting of the room to other students is not allowed and may lead to expulsion from the dormitory.

6. Swapping of beds and rooms without prior approval from the Dormitory Management is not allowed and may lead to expulsion from the dorm.

7. Occupants are allowed to decorate their rooms but not allowed to make holes in the wall or to put semi/permanent structures in their room.

8. Please do not move furniture and facilities in the dorm. In case of loss or damage, the Dorm Management reserves the right to collect for compensation. The Dormitory Management has the same right to collect compensation for the loss or damage of fabrics and property not brought about by normal wear and tear.

9. If any room facilities are damaged, please report immediately to the management. Otherwise, the dorm management will not be responsible for the loss of property due to a delayed report.

10. Dorm occupancy is renewable every semester after enrolment. Residents who committed major violations may not be considered for renewal. Old occupants of the dorm are the priority. If they wish to extend their occupancy, they may inform the dorm manager ahead of time. The application will be considered for extension based on the space availability & the students’ previous conduct in the dorm.

11. Student residents shall no longer have the right to reside in the dormitory if they, for whatever reasons, cease to be students of the University. In such cases, they shall vacate their rooms & remove all personal properties in the room immediately upon termination of residency. Residents who fail to remove their belongings from a room upon expiry of residency, will be kept for 1 week, after which all items left behind will be disposed of as rubbish. The university/the management shall not be liable for any loss of or damage to such properties whatsoever.

Residents Conduct

1. Students must utilize water efficiently and must use the bathroom promptly in consideration of the other occupants

2. Students must follow the school daily routine & manage their time accordingly.

3. Students must maintain orderly conduct, obey all staff & cooperate with them.

4. Bullying & Fighting is totally prohibited. Harassment to another resident might result to immediate

eviction

5. Stealing, pilfering are acts that are strictly prohibited.

6. Cleanliness of the room is the responsibility of the occupants

7. Residents should respect the property of the other occupants

8. Appropriate clothing is to be worn when in communal areas or when entertaining visitors.274

9. Destroying CCTV could be a ground for eviction

10. Violating curfew hours and the above misconduct might affect the approval for renewal in the dormitory.

In Rooms

1. Opposite sex is not allowed in the room, even the relatives. Family members who wish to visit shall ask prior permission from the Dorm manager. Family members who wish to stay overnight shall also ask prior approval from the Dorm manager. No visitors shall be entertained inside the room.

2. The Dormitory management reserves the right to authorized entry in any of the rooms in the dormitory with or without prior notification to ensure proper care, maintenance and safety of the facilities.

3. The Dormitory management may confiscate any appliances or items which are not allowed to be brought into the dormitory or any equipment used in such a way as to disturb others or endanger others.

4. For the sake of efficient utilization of resources & to facilitate timely repairs to the rooms, the Dormitory Management reserves the right to relocate residents to other rooms within the dormitory.

5. When leaving the room, always close the door and windows. Any loss or damage of residents’ property due to negligence is not accountable to the Dormitory management.

Safety

1. For any emergency, always report to the Dorm Manager

2. Possession of chemicals, explosives or highly combustible materials are strictly disallowed in the dormitory.

3. The use of electric blanket, halogen lamp, quartz heater, electric heater or stove, & any kind of cooking facilities that may start fires are disallowed.

4. Do not overload the power supply by plugging in too many electrical appliances. Do not use sub-standard electrical equipment or appliances.

5. Preparation or reheating of food is only allowed in a designated area or kitchen

6. Open flames, including candles & incense are not allowed in any part of the dormitory.

7. Be responsible for your rubbish. Do not throw anything in the window.

8. Residents are responsible for their belongings. Neither the dormitory nor the University are liable for the loss or damage of such belongings.

9. Make sure to lock the room when you leave or sleep. Room key loss will be replaced or paid by the resident concern. Duplication of room kay for other peoples used is not allowed

10. Smoking is not allowed in the dormitory.

11. Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are not allowed in the dormitory. Possession of such items may not only lead to expulsion from the dormitory but expulsion from the University.

12. Pets are not allowed in the dormitory

13. Gambling is not allowed in the dormitory

14. No guns, explosives, or poisonous articles are allowed

15. No physiological, psychological, sexual or racial disturbance is allowed

16. No party and similar activities are allowed in the dormitory275

Common Areas

1. Hallways, walkways & stairs are to be kept clear of equipment, furniture, trash, & any other objects as they will obstruct passage & therefore the escape routes during emergencies.

2. Making noise in the common area is strictly prohibited

3. Commercial and other activities are not allowed without prior approval from the Dormitory management.

4. Loitering around is prohibited

Quiet and Curfew Hours

1. Students must be in the premises of the dormitory before 10 P.M. They can leave the dormitory at 5 A. M. 10P.M.-5 A.M is considered as the quiet hours of the dormitory

2. Residents during those times shall keep their noise at reasonable level so as not to cause nuisance to the neighbors

3. Dance and group song practice are not allowed in the dormitory.

4. Dorm visiting hours are 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

5. The residents shall be responsible for their visitor but they are not allowed to stay overnight in the room.

6. The residents are also partly liable for the misconduct of their visitors.
